At First Presbyterian Church, Oxford, we celebrate the two sacraments instituted by Christ: baptism and communion. Both are signs and seals of the love that God has for us and witness to our hope found in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord. Through baptism, we are welcomed into the family of faith by responding to God’s grace and forgiveness. Through communion, we celebrate God’s reconciling gift to us found in the person Jesus Christ as we proclaim the good news of the Gospel.

Baptism:

During baptism, promises are made by, or on behalf of, the baptized to seek to know God more fully alongside promises from the congregation to nurture the faith of the one baptized. We regularly baptize infants, youth, and adults at First Presbyterian Church, Oxford. Children whose parent(s) are ready to reaffirm their shared faith, make promises to raise their child in the knowledge and love of God, and participate actively and responsibly in the worship and mission of the church may schedule a date to be baptized at FPC.

Communion:

Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month at the 11:00 am Sunday service. Communion is also celebrated during special liturgical services during Christmas, Easter, and World Communion Sunday.
