Children’s Ed Takes Sunday Off
Because of the Labor Day holiday weekend, there will be no children’s or youth education programming Sunday, September 5. However, a nursery will still be offered from 8:30 am-Noon.
Some adult classes will also not meet.
The regular education schedule resumes for children and adults September 12.

College Fellowship Set for New Year
Whether a new student just arriving or a returning upperclassman, welcome to Oxford and Ole Miss for the new school year!
First Presbyterian Church has a long history of association with the University of Mississippi, thanks in part to its close proximity to campus. Students are warmly welcomed into the life of worship, education and fellowship here at all times. Worship, held each week during the academic year at 8:30 and 11:00 am, is traditional in nature. Attire ranges widely, from casual to dressy.
Presbyterian College Fellowship, our ministry for college students, will gather more frequently this fall. All undergraduate and graduate students are welcome, encouraged and invited to attend our events.
Our regular Sunday evening fellowship with dinner will be held in Fellowship Hall on Sundays at 6:00 pm: September 12, October 10, November 7 and December 5. Come for a great home-cooked meal and fellowship.
On Sunday, September 26 and Sunday, November 21, the College Fellowship will meet in the courtyard after 11:00 am worship and walk together to Newk’s for lunch.
A Bible study on the book of Revelation will be held on Wednesday evenings, September 15 through November 17. Come to Fellowship Hall at 5:30 pm for the church dinner and stay for the College Fellowship Bible study in the Annex (just across the street from the Sanctuary behind Petit Milletts Restaurant) beginning at 6:15 pm.
College Students are invited to attend the All-Church Picnic at Camp Hopewell at 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 24. For directions, and to arrange rides to Camp Hopewell, contact Rev. Jonathan Scanlon at .

Sermon CDs Now Available
CD audio copies of each week’s sermon at FPC are available from the church office for $3. Simply contact one of our office staff to order a copy for pickup. Soon, DVD copies of our worship services will be available for purchase as well. Recently installed AV equipment gives us the capability to produce video copies of sanctuary services and provide high-quality video feed of services to Fellowship Hall in the event of overflow. “Nashville Flood Relief Work Day”
First Presbyterian Church is offering a new mission opportunity. The Mission Ministry Team is sponsoring a work trip to Nashville to assist those still recovering from the floods. This trip promises to be both fun and good service. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (While Ole Miss plays in Tuscaloosa.) No skills are required! Have you ever wondered where your money goes? Come learn how to better manage your money and your life. Our church is hosting Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace class to teach God’s way of handling money. Check the attachment for more information.

ICM needs some personal care items for distribution: Diapers (all sizes); Pull Ups; new underwear for children & adults; bar soap; shampoo; shaving cream; deodorant (men’s & women’s); feminine products; and first aid items, such as Band Aids and antibiotic creams. Please bring them to the church office.
The Church office will be closed for Labor Day, Monday, September 6.
The VIP meeting is on Thursday, September 23, with St Peter’s members as our guests. The meeting, with Mary and Sam Haskell as our program, will be first at 11:00 with lunch afterward. The deadline for making a reservation is Monday, September 20.
The Adult Bible Study Class, led by Hale Freeland, will resume meeting on Sunday, September 12, at the Sunday School hour. They will be meeting in Conference Room 101 (former Mary and Martha room), just behind the sanctuary.
Two Grace Academy classes will begin soon: Financial Peace University, starting September 8. Contact Allyson Ashmore () to register. Myth and Metaphor; conversations with Joseph Campbell, will begin Thursday, September 2, at noon. Call the church office to register. Registration is required for both of these.
Confirmation Class will begin Sunday, September 12. If you received a letter about this, please return the reply card to the church office as soon as possible.
